Stelllantis“Ram Brand cancels plans to develop an electric van RAM 1500 full -size, citing the request for slowing down electric vehicles.

“While the demand for electric battery electric trucks slows down in North America, Stellantis re-evaluates its product strategy and will interrupt the development of a full-size Bev pick-up,” a company spokesman said on Friday, using industry acronym for battery electric vehicles.

Stellantis had already delayed the plans twice for the truck, which was originally to be sold by the end of 2024.

RAM said on Friday that it planned to launch an electric truck in prolonged range, which is equipped with an electric generator and a gas engine. This truck should be released next year.

The company said that it would rename this prolonged truck to “soften” at “RAM 1500 Rev”.

The change comes while the CEO of RAM, Tim Kuniskis, who without spotting the car manufacturer at the end of last year, launched an aggressive reversal for the besieged brand.

The CEO of New Stellantis, Antonio Filosa, returned some of the initiatives of the former CEO Carlos Tavares and signed up at the end of July to make “the difficult decisions necessary to restore profitable growth and considerably improve the results”.

The automotive industry as a whole has been faced with the slower than expected adoption of electric vehicles. The Trump administration has also sought to relax numerous initiatives by former president Joe Biden to keep the automotive industry away from gourmet internal combustion engines by gas and canceled the tax credits for the purchase of electric vehicles.
