Trump’s Great American State Fair was a disaster. The State Fair seems to be a misnomer, as this event has nothing resembling a fair. If you were expecting a cross between a World’s Fair and your county or state fair, you’d be wrong. The fair has a major carousel, which was broken during Washingtonian’s visit. No food or fair play was reported. The entire fair has been described as “dark.”
After nearly all musical acts dropped out, Trump announced he would lead the opening of the Great American State Fair himself.
NBC News reported that attendance at Trump’s rally at the Great American State Fair was low:
Merchandise stands sold red “America Is Back” baseball caps, in the style of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hats, as well as an assortment of Freedom 250 shirts, scarves and trinkets. Dealers sold snacks and soft drinks. More than one attendee expressed disappointment after walking into a booth advertising beer and being told no alcohol was available.
About half of the more than 1,000 people there Wednesday wore Trump slogans or likenesses on their clothing. For them, America’s 250th birthday was secondary to the opportunity to meet the president.
Trump spent days trying to claim that 45,000 people attended.
