Sometimes the truth comes out when a political leader gets too comfortable in front of an audience. House Republicans tested the message to their voters that they must win the House in November to save Donald Trump.
The Republican went from “Win one for the Gipper” to “Win one to save the criminal.”

According to polls, that message has failed to resonate with voters, who appear increasingly determined to make Trump and his party pay a heavy price for the unpopular policies and economic despair they inflict.
Perhaps that’s why Mike Johnson felt compelled to say the real reason he thinks it’s important for Republicans to maintain the majority in the House.
Johnson said:
You’ve heard President Trump say, “I’m on the ballot,” because, in a real sense, he is. If we did, we’d lose the midterm elections, God forbid, these Democrats, y’all, impeachment isn’t even the big concern. They will turn every congressional committee into an investigative body and go after the president’s family, the cabinet, his donors, and his friends. Half of you in this room will be targeted. I manage the protection program. I’ll take care of you, okay? We will win. We’re going to win the midterms, okay? All right?

Mike Johnson explained it. He sees his job as protecting Donald Trump. Johnson is not governing for the American people. He protects Trump.
Trump also spoke at the same conference, so let’s see what Johnson is protecting.
