As prices arouse higher prices concerns, Walmart Breathe more discounts for its own employees.

The largest private American employer said on Wednesday that he would offer a 10% discount of employees on almost all races, including milk, meat and frozen food. This discount previously applied to fresh products and the most general goods of goods, such as clothing and toys, but only for other foods during the holiday season.

In a memo to the employees obtained by CNBC, the director of people of Walmart, gave Morris, said that the extended price drop took effect immediately. About 1.6 million US Walmart employees are eligible for the delivery after their first 90 days with the company. With expansion, the reduction will now include 95% of items regularly in the store, she said.

“We have heard your comments that these savings make a real difference for you and your families,” she wrote in memo. “And we have continued to hear that you would like to see this wider advantage. In fact, this is one of our most requested advantages.”

Walmart’s announcement comes as economists and businesses are looking closely at how the increase in prices takes place in the American economy and shapes consumption expenses. The consumer price index, a closely monitored inflation metric of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, became better than fearing on Tuesday, with flat food prices. However, the data has further indicated higher prices on certain elements. For example, household furniture and supplies increased by 0.7% of months in months after climbing 1% in June.

Walmart himself warned that higher prices are coming. In May, the company’s financial director, John David Rainey, told CNBC that the discounter was “wired for low prices every day, but the magnitude of these increases is more than any retailer cannot absorb”.

The extended surrender of employees could also stimulate Walmart’s own business. This could motivate its enormous numbers to spend more of their money in its stores and its website rather than in other grocers or retailers. And the advantage could also help attract and hold workers.

Walmart announced the extended discount at its holiday meeting in Houston, which all store managers attended.

According to a video obtained by CNBC, the CEO of Walmart US, John Furner, brought a Walmart store director on stage to read the surprise ad that his 10% discount on food would become all year round.

“All I can think is that my partners at home,” the store manager told Furner when he thanked him. He said that employees at his store “do not know how they will pay their next meal and now it will help them.”

Walmart should publish its latest results on August 21. The widening of the retailer was reported for the first time by the Wall Street Journal.
