Iran’s foreign minister announced that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened for two weeks during the ceasefire, but that the strait would remain under Iranian control.
There is no mention in the deal of Iran’s nuclear program, meaning Trump’s claim to start this war of choice has been taken off the table.
None of this stopped Trump from celebrating his capitulation on Truth Social:
Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir of Pakistan, in which they requested me to suspend the dispatch of destructive force to Iran this evening, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the FULL, IMMEDIATE and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack on Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a two-sided CEASE-FIRE!
