The shooter did NOT enter the White House Correspondents’ Dinner

The initial chaos and drama surrounding the shooter apprehended at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner is beginning to clear up and the facts are beginning to emerge.

Political partisans will certainly try to make a story out of it, and members of the media who were in the ballroom appeared hysterical while describing the situation, but it appears that Trump nor the media in the ballroom may not have been in as much danger, as the shooter apparently never entered the event area.

People familiar with the WHCD couldn’t understand how a shooter could approach from inside.

Sam Stein posted on X:

The whca dinner is one of the most monitored and secure dinners of the entire year. Multiple security checks at multiple levels of the hotel. Shocked, a gun might even come close

It’s quite shocking.

The AP cites a “law enforcement source” as saying shots were fired inside the hotel: “The gunman opened fire inside the hotel where Trump was attending the dinner, a law enforcement official said. »

The interior of the hotel is not in the ballroom.

MS NOW reports that the incident took place outside the ballroom:

As for your guys, it looks like the security apparatus worked. The shots were not fired inside the ballroom.

…

Just to recap, the likely scenario seems to be that there was an attempted breach of the security perimeter and the assassin failed to reach it. The person currently in custody was unable to enter the security perimeter and shots were fired outside the ballroom.

Video:

The fact is that both the mainstream media and Trump are so unpopular that we don’t know for sure whether the president, the people in the room, who are elites, or both were the targets.

Assassination attempts or otherwise are undemocratic and never a solution, but it is yet another sign that Trump and his party need to tone down their rhetoric. A decade of divisive politics has led to extremes, and people, especially those suffering from mental health or other issues, may begin to view violence as an acceptable option.

Violence is NEVER an acceptable option.

The facts will emerge over time, but early reports of shots fired in the ballroom were incorrect. Maybe when people are struggling to afford health insurance and buy food, it’s not the best time for elites to put on their tuxedos and indulge in million-dollar parties.
