Instead, Donald Trump has found a new group of enemies to focus on.
A group of House and Senate Democrats who served in the military angered Trump by reminding troops that they must put the Constitution first and not follow illegal orders issued by the president.
The fact that some members of Congress have put an end to Trump’s illusions of unlimited power has discouraged the president.
It was not enough for the Department of Defense to open an investigation into Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ).
Trump ordered the FBI’s counterterrorism division to investigate the other Democratic members of Congress who appeared in the illegal orders video.
Senator Slotkin (D-MI) posted on X:
Last night, the FBI’s counterterrorism division appeared to open an investigation against me in response to a video that didn’t sit well with President Trump.
The president ordering the FBI to target us is exactly why we made this video in the first place. He believes in using the federal government as a weapon against his perceived enemies and does not believe the laws apply to him or his Cabinet. He uses legal harassment as an intimidation tactic to dissuade people from speaking out.
It’s not just a video. This is not the America I know, and I will not let this next step from the FBI stop me from defending my country and our Constitution.
Sen. Mark Kelly also received information from the FBI, as did all of the House Democrats who appeared in the video.
