
When Gov. JB Pritzker and local leaders met with reporters Thursday, one might have assumed he was holding the news conference to let the world know what ICE is doing in Chicago, and although officials provided updates, the governor used the news conference to do something else.

Pritzker took the opportunity to tell the world what the Trump administration is doing to Illinois’ children.
The Trump administration has been the most anti-child in modern US history. Trump is about to cut off food for children in need by refusing to fund SNAP. Children face a loss of health insurance due to cuts to Medicaid and CHIP that were passed by Republicans in Congress and signed into law by Trump.
Trump has cut funding for federal programs that protect children from predators.
What ICE did to children in the cities where they and the National Guard were deployed was particularly cruel. ICE targeted children by waiting outside schools to arrest them or their parents. ICE took parents away from their children in the middle of the night.
Children were subjected to tear gas and pepper spray.
Trump has caused harm and trauma to children.
Governor Pritzker asked Trump and his Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem, to do one simple thing.
Don’t terrorize children this Halloween weekend.
Pritzker said:
The Department of Homeland Security says its highest priority is protecting children. So today I have to ask them: please live up to these ideals. I sent a letter to Christie Noam and the Department of Homeland Security, asking them to suspend all federal agent operations for the entire Halloween weekend.
