The PGA Tour appointed the chief of the NFL on Tuesday, Brian Rolapp, its next managing director to succeed the current commissioner Jay Monahan.
Monahan will begin to bring his daily responsibilities to Rolapp and move to the end of 2026. Monahan said that he had informed the board of directors last year of his intention to resign in 2026 after a decade at the head of the organization.
“We found exactly the right leader in Brian Rolapp, and I am delighted to support him while he goes from NFL to his new role leading the PGA Tour,” said Monahan in a statement.
In an open letter published Tuesday, Rolapp spoke of the respect he has for the history of golf and rich traditions, but said that there was still work to do and incredible opportunities to come.
ROLAPP said that after talking to players, members of the board of directors and fans in recent months, he plans to focus on strengthening the tour of the tour.
“Professional golf is evolving, as is the ways that fans consume sport. My goal as CEO is to honor golf traditions but not to be too bound by them,” he said.
During Monahan’s mandate as a commissioner, he helped obtain an investment of $ 1.5 billion for the League, created equity opportunities for players and launched a Fan Forward initiative, according to a press release.
However, these efforts were often overshadowed by an outstanding merger with the Liv golf supported by Saoudie. The two announced their intention to merge in June 2023, but have not yet concluded an agreement.
ROLAPP, who was considered a candidate of the first successor for the NFL commissioner, Roger GOODELL, brings decades of experience in the forging of high -level media partnerships.
As the NFL media and business manager, Rolapp supervised the trade, broadcast and digital rights of the League.
The PGA Tour will renew its media rights agreements with key partners before the current expiration of the agreement in 2030.
“Brian’s meeting is a victory for players and fans,” said the legend of the Tiger Woods golf course in a statement. “He has clear respect for the game and our players and brings a new perspective of his experience in the NFL.”
