The United States Tennis Association announced on Monday that it would make an investment of $ 800 million to transform and modernize tennis facilities for the US Open.
The project marks the biggest investment in the history of American open and will offer a renovation from top to the Arthur Ashe stadium in Flushing, New York, as well as a new $ 250 million player performance center.
The USTA has said that the project would be self -funded and will not be based on public funding or taxpayers' dollars.
“This project allows us to maintain the largest stage in tennis – the Arthur Ashe stadium – which was built over 25 years ago, and to modernize it in a way that set it up for the next 25 years,” said Lew Sherr, CEO and executive director of the USTA.

Arthur Ashe Stadium, the main scene of the American open tournament, will see the most important changes, including a new big entry, modernized competitions and toilets, two new dedicated luxury levels and new clubs and restaurants.
The renovation will also add 2,000 seats to the bowl at the level of the short.
