During a press conference Thursday, the Democratic leader of Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) said that the voters were fleeing the republican party en masse:

People are upset. People are worried, anxious, frightened, frightened and all of the above. And so you see democratic members through the country channeling these feelings in different ways.
