In an attempt to court the public, Disney ESPN plans to add content generated by users to its flagship service which will not yet be appointed, which will make its debut later this year.

Although the details are not yet clear, ESPN will allow subscribers to publish their own content at a given moment in the evolution of the application, according to people familiar with the issue. The technology will probably not be available at launch, which, in the company, will occur before the start of the National Football League season in September. An ESPN spokesperson refused to comment.

Disney leaders also planned to add content generated by users to Disney + and discuss YouTube’s influence on streaming daily, CNBC reported last year.

Alphabet YouTube, which is strongly based on the content led by creators, is the most popular streaming service with a share of 11.1% of the total television use in the United States, according to Nielsen.

ESPN leaders are targeting a price of $ 25 per month or $ 30 per month for the ESPN streaming service, which will include all ESPN linear programs more other digital additional modules, people said.

The company plans to announce a name for the service, a price and a launch date in the coming months, people said.

The leaders of the media and professional sports league focus on how to capture the attention of young viewers who choose to watch YouTube or Tiktok on live games. ESPN goes tens of billions of dollars each year on media rights for live sports.
