Even if Democrats do not have a majority in the House or the Senate, they still use their supervisory authority to conduct informal surveys. The last survey was launched by the member of the Chamber’s Supervisory Committee, representative Gerry Connolly (D-VA) who wishes information from the Trump administration on the role of Elon Musk at the White House.

Connolly wrote to Trump:

On January 20, 2025, you published a decree entitled “Establish and implement the” Department of Efficiency of the Government “of the President”. In this order, you describe the functions of the USD administrator. “This official action followed your announcement of November 2024 that Musk would direct the Dogey effort alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, which has since left the initiative.

You have repeatedly portrayed Mr. Musk as the chief of Doge, including at an Oval Office press conference in which you called DOGE as a “team” of Mr. Musk in response to a question, and in Which Musk called for several efforts, saying, for example, that “we publish our actions on the Doge handle on X and on the Doge website”.

However, in a declaration under oath filed with the United States district court for the Columbia district, Joshua Fisher, director of the White House administration office with “the personal knowledge of the employment status of Mr. Elon Musk to the federal government[,]”Said, under the penalty of perjury that Elon Musk” is not an employee of the United States Doge Service or the temporary organization of the United States Doge[,]”That” Mr. Musk is not the American administrator Doge Service[,]”And that” Mr. Musk has no real or formal authority to make government decisions himself. »»

In direct contradiction with the Declaration under the oath of Mr. Fisher, during a press conference in the evening of February 19, 2025, you declared: “I signed an order creating the Ministry of Effectiveness of the Government and put A man named Elon Musk in charge. ” This contradiction raises important concerns whether you are lying on the role of Mr. Musk, or Mr. Fisher appears himself – a criminal offense which can lead to up to 5 years in prison.

To understand the role of Mr. Musk and the authorities under which he exercises generalized access to government data, please provide the following information and documents and answers to the following questions and requests by March 6, 2025:

Who is the current administrator of the United States Doge?

2. What is the role of Elon Musk in relation to the American DOGE service?

3. Has Mr. Musk already made a decision concerning the operations of the American service or another federal agency?

4. Has Mr. Musk already published a directive to a member of the United States Doge?

5. What legal authority does Musk have to access the sensitive data of the Americans?

6. An organizational organization for DOGE and the US DOGE SERVICE, including all employees whose email addresses include “DOGE.EOP.GOV” or an employee presenting himself as a DOGE representative in any federal entity.

Democrats do everything they can do to dig what’s going on with Musk and Trump. What these informal surveys are useful is to lay the foundations for deep formal surveys if the Democrats resume the room in 2025 in special elections or 2026.

The chances are that Trump will ignore Connolly’s request and will not comply, but that should not dissuade the Democrats in the Chamber from continuing to attract and draw attention to what is happening.

People must continue to put pressure on their members of the room and the Senate. Democrats have no power, so they can’t do this alone.

Public protest and speech are fuel that can fuel real change.

Democrats ask the right questions, and with a little help from the American people, they will be able to obtain the answers.
