Senate Republicans, including Sen. John Thune’s super PAC, are strongly supporting incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in his reelection primary against state Attorney General Ken Paxton and Rep. Wesley Hunt.
Polls show Cornyn doing his best among the three Republicans against either candidate in the Democratic Senate primary, Sen. James Talarico or Rep. Jasmine Crockett.

Cornyn is Republicans’ best chance of holding on to their seat in red Texas, where Democrats are surprisingly competitive in what appears to be a heavily Democratic midterm election year.
At an event in Corpus Christi on Friday, Trump didn’t do what Republicans in the state and in Washington D.C. wanted him to do.
Cornyn accompanied Trump to Texas aboard Air Force One, but if he expected support from the president at the event attended by all three Republican Senate candidates, he was about to be very disappointed.
Republicans warn that if Cornyn loses, they will have to spend an additional $200 million in the midterms to try to keep the Senate seat in Republican hands.
The table was set for Trump to come to Texas and choose the best candidate who he believed would help Republicans retain a Senate seat in November.
Instead, Trump gave the Democrats a huge gift.
