To say that most of Congress is very upset about Trump invading another country and impeaching its leader without congressional authorization would be an understatement.

The White House was unable to cite any legal authority it had to justify its actions in Venezuela.

PoliticusUSA is not beholden to any political party or special interest. Support us by becoming a subscriber.

Instead, Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed the administration was engaged in an enforcement action that did not require congressional approval.

Rubio said on ABC’s This Week:

This was not necessary because it was not an invasion. We did not occupy a county. It was an arrest operation. It was a law enforcement operation. He was arrested on the ground in Venezuela by red-right FBI agents and expelled from the country.

Do you — I encourage everyone — I know it’s Sunday, people are busy, but I — you know, the indictments have now been unsealed. People should read this indictment. They should read this indictment. They should read what this man did for the last 15 years of his life against the United States. Him and his wife. He was arrested.

This justification was baseless gibberish because the military invaded another country.

The good news is that something can be done.
