More seriously, Governor Newsom said“This week, we are going to announce the campaign. Next week, the legislative assembly will move forward with two thirds. We will get it during a special election on November 4. We will fight fire with fire. We will neutralize everything that Abbott does.”
The Republicans plan to collect 12 seats if they Gerrymander states where they have total control of the state government. Democrats can cancel a large part of this with their own redistribution in New York, California and Illinois.
Republicans could gain a small advantage, but that will not be enough. Since the Second World War, the average loss for the president’s party during his first mandate, and as Trump conditions are not consecutive, this applies, 28 seats. Presidents lost an average of 43 seats when their Gallup approval rating was less than 50%. Donald Trump’s approval rating on Gallup is currently 37%.
The Gerrymander will not save the majority of the room for the Republicans, and a way of ensuring that it will not do it, is that the Democrats fight fire with the fire by limiting the impact of the Republican Gerrymanders.
