Spirit Airlines said on Monday that he would do 270 drivers on leave this fall while the carrier is preparing for a smaller outdoor calendar to try to find his financial base.
The airline will also retrograde 140 pilots from the captain to the first officer, according to a note to the airmen of the Air Line Pilots Association, their union. These downgrades come into force on October 1.
“We know how difficult this new strike, and there is no disguise. Spirit continues to shrink, and with him, the value of the seniority of the pilots and the careers of the spirit continues to erode,” said Ryan Muller, captain and president of the Alpa chapter of Spirit.
The contents come into force on November 1 “to better align the staff with our flight schedule,” said the airline.
Spirit emerged from the bankruptcy of chapter 11 in March and tried to win customers with higher -end travel options, who have behaved better than naked coach’s tickets have been known for years.
“We take the necessary measures to ensure that we operate as effectively as possible in the context of our efforts to return to profitability,” Spirit said in a statement to CNBC.
Industry airlines said demand was softer this year, especially in the out -of -tip travel periods.
“We recognize the weight of this decision and are committed to treating all the members of the team affected with compassion and respect during this process,” said Spirit.
Spirit also announced hundreds of pilot content last year when it approaches its bankruptcy deposit.
