Now that what is called money to Shakedown in the form of a trial regulation was paid, the paramount merger with Skydance, which is led by Trump’s allies, the Ellison brothers will be completed in a few weeks.

Paramount has CBS and Comedy Central among other networks, and the new inbound property clearly indicated that they wanted to delete what they call the liberal defilement of their purchase.

Paramount currently employs Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, and their future is now uncertain.

Oliver Darcy wrote in the Status newsletter:

Inside “The Daily Show”, I am told that the staff members were proud that Stewart showed once again that he was ready to resist powerful interests, even if it potentially risks his future job. And although they may not know it yet, in certain power circles, there is an open question: how long will Stewart have this platform?

Indeed, the reality is that the soil under not only Stewart, but also Stephen Colbert, moves quickly. Skydance, led by Larry and David Ellison, now thinks that his merger with Paramount will close in the coming weeks, I am told. A large part of the attention focused on how the Ellisons will reshape “60 minutes” and CBS News. We first pointed out that David Ellison met Bari Weiss on a possible role in CBS News, and it is clear that the Ellisons want to rid the network of what they consider a liberal defilement. But few things have been said about the future of Colbert and Stewart, who were two of Trump’s most coherent comic antagonists under the new management of the company.

Jon Stewart’s contract is in place at the end of 2026, and it is probably paid a large sum of money to make a show per week and supervise the Daily Show. The new property could choose not to renew Stewart, to call him a cost reduction decision and avoid dismissing him.
