Zohran Mamdani appeared on Meet The Press to talk about his primary campaign to the mayor’s currency in New York and his vision of the city in the future.

At one point in the interview, Kristen Welker asked Mamdani: “Let me ask you what Donald Trump, the President of the United States, had to say. He had a lot to say about your campaign. He called you a communist because he is the president. I want to give you a chance to answer him directly. How do you answer?
Mamdani said:
No, I’m not. And I already had to start getting used to the fact that the president will talk about my appearance, my appearance, from where I come from, who I am finally, because he wants to distract from what I fight, and I fight for the very worked people he has led to an emphasis that he has since betrayed.
And when we talk about my policy, you know, my name is a democratic socialist in many ways inspired by the words of Dr. King in decades ago. Who said, call it democracy or call it democratic socialism. There must be a better distribution of wealth for all the children of God in this country. And as income inequality has decreased nationally, it increased in New York.
And finally, what we need is a city where each person can prosper.
It is easy to see why the Mamdani campaign was so successful because it talks about improving the city for each resident, whether rich or poor. Mamdani speaks in an inclusive way of costs and the quality of life at a time when these two problems are in the minds of many Americans.
Affairs and costs are dominant problems for all those who are not rich.
Mamdani’s response to Trump was the right one.
Trump made a lot of promises to workers, and he betrayed them. This betrayal message goes beyond Trump and covers almost the whole republican party.
Mamdani is not a perfect candidate, because there is nothing like it, but he shows Democrats the power to speak to people in a broad manner of the questions that matter to them.
Donald Trump lied to American workers, and he fears people like Mamdani because they speak the true language of populism that resonates with the masses and demystify the false promises of Trump and his party.
