Why the White House press pool must boycott Trump

We have been what we are right to be criticized the journalists of the White House who gave Trump a set of different rules and who was too deferential. The correspondents of the White House prioritize their own access to the President and what they thought that access could do for their careers concerning the protection of press freedom.

By trying to appease Trump, the correspondents of the White House opened the door to the administration by taking control of the press pool, and now that Trump has control, he replaces the objective catches with right propaganda arms.

The association of White House correspondents always has, but politely, criticized the Trump administration for its movements.

Even if the AP won in court, The administration continues to prevent them from entering the White House.

The situation is undemocratic.

Oliver Darcy du Status The newsletter spoke of the idea of a boycott from the White House press pool:

The most powerful tool in the press is collective action – namely a boycott of the pool cover. This kind of protest would be the most effective if it is led by Visual Media weapons: television networks and photojournalists, given Trump’s obsession to be seen on television and images. But such a decision is very unlikely. Points of sale are naturally reluctant to yield the ground because they want to cover Trump’s actions and inform the public of what is happening in his government. In addition, abandon the risk of access allowing the administration to replace the list of journalists with flexible mouths. It would not only be disastrous for the editorial rooms – it would be bad for the public as a whole.

And so the press body is trapped in what can be described as an autocratic wrestling: participate and risk legitimizing a rigged system, or going out and watching it get worse. The attacks of the White House, on the other hand, will only go up.

Darcy is right. The chances of television networks, which belong to large companies that have almost all given up to Trump in one way or another, agreeing to team up on a boycott are thin, but a boycott is the only answer.

The White House has already done damage by asking Trump to answer questions from very friendly points of sale. If the other points of sale stopped participating in the blanket of the White House, Newsmax, Fox News and other right -wing disinformation factories would still be there, but legitimate journalists would be missing.

The harsh reality is that the proceedings did not work. The objections and the strongly written letters did not work.

At one point, journalists will have to take a stand and a risk, as they are slowly deleted and minimized by the Trump administration. If the White House press pool becomes ten legitimate journalists and twenty propagandists, legitimate journalism will be drowned or avoided by the administration.

The White House press pool has tried to appease Trump for access, but appeasement never works with an authoritarian.

If the White House press pool will not boycott, they will be pushed by the door and in oblivion.

What do you think that the White House press pool should do? Share your reflections in the comments below.
