Anyone who surrounds Donald Trump should be familiar with scandals. In fact, they should wait for them. The current administration has also blown the fumes of their own supposed power and seems to have increased on their own supply.
How can you explain otherwise the press secretary of the White House, Karoline Leavitt, answering a question about the status of Mike Waltz saying:
As the president said, Mike Waltz continues to be an important part of his national security team, and this affair was classified here in the White House. As far as we are concerned, steps have been made to make sure that if something like that can obviously not happen again, and we are going ahead and the president and Mike Waltz and all his national security team worked very well together.
If you look how the United States of America is safer, uh, due to the management of this team.

There is no doubt that Trump’s White House wants them to declare a closed signalgate and that everyone could move on, but that is not how scandals work. The American people and the media are not going to move on.
They will not pass if the Trump administration tells them to move on.
Presidents cannot control how a scandal takes place and its chronology. It is certain that if the Democrats take over the room next year, they will investigate Signalgate.
The more the White House tries to make the scandal disappear, the more it nourishes signalgate.
A serious violation of national security will not disappear, regardless of the number of times the White House declares the closed affair.
