Donald Trump likes to issue decrees that have no legal authority. The president has never understood the difference between decrees and laws and which has never been more clear by Trump’s latest decree which requires proof of citizenship to use the federal registration form, insists that no ballot ballot can be counted after the ballot day and threatens states that do not comply with his order with a federal loss of funds.

The most absurd part of order is in section 7 where Trump claims to have application powers:

To obtain full compliance with federal laws that set the uniform day to appoint presidential voters and elect Congress members:

a) The Attorney General takes all the necessary measures to enforce 2 USC 7 and 3 USC 1 against the states which violate these provisions by including the correspondence ballots or by the Post received after the day of the ballot in the final tab of the votes for the appointment of the presidential voters and the election of the members of the US Senate and the Chamber of Representatives.

(b) In accordance with 52 USC 21001 (b) and other applicable laws, the electoral assistance commission must condition any funding available for a state on the compliance of this State to requirement in 52 USC 21081 standards (a) (6) that each State adopts a uniform and non -discriminatory vote, including, as provided, as indicated in 2 USC 7, be a uniform and non -discriminatory deadline of the day of the day of the day of the day Voting for all voting methods, excluding voting bulletins deposited in accordance with 52 USC 20301 and following, after which no additional vote can be expressed.

Second. 8. prevent foreign interference and illegal use of federal funds. The Attorney General, in consultation with the secretary of the Treasury, favors the application of 52 USC 30121 and other appropriate laws to prevent foreign nationals from contributing or donating to the US elections. The Attorney General must also give priority to the application of 31 USC 1352, which prohibits lobbying by organizations or entities which have received federal funds.

As The guardian The said: “Many provisions of the order are likely to be quickly disputed and are legally suspicious. The American Constitution explicitly gives states and the Congress the authority to fix the election rules and does not allow the president to do so. ”

It is a very sober way to say that this order is a big pile of nonsense.
