The rift between Trump and Senate Republicans shows no signs of repairing, and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) provided insight into the situation in the room on his podcast.
NBC News reported:
“Fiery is not enough,” Cruz said. “I guess there are probably 45 senators in the room, at least half of them went after the attorney general and they were pissed.”
…
“Several senators yelled at the attorney general, saying this looked like a self-serving transaction,” Cruz said.
“I have to tell you, the Republican senators were pissed — people were in the whole meeting. They were yelling at the acting attorney general, and he was trying to lay out the legal basis,” Cruz said, adding that “the legal basis is absolutely sound.”
Trump’s slush fund is an example: just because something can be done doesn’t mean it should be done.
Cruz indicated the number of Senate Republicans willing to vote with Democrats.
