Trump claims Iranians want to be bombed in press conference fiasco

When the president announced he would hold a press conference on Monday to discuss the war in Iranhe did so after the second downed American pilot was rescued from Iran.

The press conference itself featured nearly an hour of propaganda from Trump and administration officials before a single question was withdrawn from the assembled press.

The administration was trying to sell the war as a success, even though Trump’s claims that the United States had already won the war had been refuted by the shooting down of a U.S. fighter jet.

The president is not living in reality, as evidenced by his assertion that the Iranian people want to be bombed.

Trump said:

Yeah, diet. Diet. They would be willing to do it, they would be willing to do it and it is suffering. They would be willing to go through that to enjoy the freedom that the Iranians enjoy, and we have had numerous interceptions. Please continue to bomb the bombs that fall near their homes. Please keep bombing, just do it.

And these are people who live where the bombs explode. And when we leave and we don’t reach these areas, they tell us: please come back. To come back. Come on. It’s the people. I don’t know what they are doing. All I can tell you is that they want freedom. They lived in a world you know nothing about.
