The House Oversight Committee is supposed to be a vital part of the congressional oversight apparatus. The Oversight Committee is unique because it is not limited to overseeing one agency or policy area. The Oversight Committee has subpoena power and can investigate anything it wants.
With the return of Donald Trump to power, James Comer showed that he was on the spot by continuing his investigation into Joe Biden.
In October 2025, after Comer announced an investigation into Joe Biden for using an auto-open, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told reporters, “The so-called Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, James Comer, continues to behave like a smartass clown. You can’t point to a single thing he’s actually done to improve the lives of the American people.”
Comer took his clowning to a new level Tuesday when he announced plans to make Bill Clinton the center of the Epstein scandal.
