The box office is about to warm up.

After an action’s superproduction rate, a theatrical momentum stalled in the fall. However, the winter slate is about to provide a coherent spark of ticket sales, pushing the interior transport of 2025 above $ 9 billion and a post-pandemic summit, according to the latest estimates.

“The box office from the year to national year takes place approximately 4% before last year and, if we can develop this head, we could watch the biggest post-pandemic year for films,” said Paul Dergarabedian, manager of market trends in Comscore.

Passing through the fourth quarter, the national box office raised $ 6.5 billion in ticket sales this year, compared to $ 6.3 billion per year before, according to Comscre data. The full year record that the box office is looking to exceed is $ 9.05 billion, which was counted in 2023.

Macquarie Forese analysts Disney “Tron: Ares” as the first domino to die for, creating a momentum throughout the year. Then comes Universal “Wicked: For Good” and “Zootopia 2” of Disney, both of which Macquarie plans to exceed $ 250 million in interior ticket sales. The year is crowned with “Avatar: Fire and Ash”.

“Fall generally sees his ups and downs, but the trifecta formed by` nasty: for good ”, “Zootopia 2” and “Avatar: Fire and Ash” during the holiday season cannot be overestimated in its meaning, “said Shawn Robbins, director of Fandango analyzes and founder of Box Office Theory. “Many other films will contribute to aggregated numbers as crucial counter-programmers and mid-range tents.”

These other outings include the “Black Phone 2” by Universal, Disney and “Predator: Badlands” from Disney and 20th Studio ,, ” Paramount “The Running Man” and “Five Universal nights at Freddy’s 2.”

Eric Handler of Roth Capital Partners projects the fourth quarter box office to reach $ 2.5 billion, which would represent a 7% year’s leap from one year to the next. This would bring annual income to almost $ 9.1 billion, 5% more than 2024.

Macquarie expectations are even higher, the financial group estimating $ 2.7 billion for the quarter and a year of $ 9.2 billion.

“And we expect the box office will develop more in 2026, caused by overflows of ‘avatar: Fire and Ash’ and a list of blockbusters and intellectual property such as’ The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ‘,` `Mandalorian and Grogu,’ Toy Story 5 ” The Macquarie team wrote.

Disclosure: Comcast is the parent company of Fandango and Nbcuniversal, owner of CNBC. Square would become the new mother company of Fandango and CNBC on the spin-off of Comcast de Land.
