For more than a decade, there has been a coherent scheme in Trump’s media behavior. When Donald Trump wants to be scanning bad news under the carpet or change the tone of the cover he gets, he presents himself on Fox News. More specifically, Trump will appear in person on the two most sympathetic daily programs on the network. Trump will come to Fox and his friends, be sitting with his friend Sean Hannity.
In the recent appearance of Trump Fox and Friends, he tried to change the subject of Charlie Kirk, because he already knew what the rest of the country was about to discover it. The person who shot Charlie Kirk was not a “left -wing democrat”, but a republican who shot Kirk, who would have shot Kirk for not having been conservative enough.
It is the other information that Trump slipped into the conversation that was buried in the headlines that deserves more attention.
Trump announced that he would send troops from the National Guard to Chicago, but instead, he sends them to Memphis, Tennessee.
Why me? Trump hinted a big index of the announcement.
Trump said:
We are going to Memphis. Memphis is, it’s the next city. Deeply disturbed and the mayor is happy. He is a democrat, mayor. The mayor is happy. And the governor, the Tennessee, the happy governor, deeply disturbed. We are going to repair that. Just as we did Washington.
I would have preferred to go to Chicago.
…
But Memphis is, look, it’s a big musical city. It’s one, you know, the house of Elvis and everything else. But I told him, where should we go? How would you say? He said, sir, make me a favor. As St. Louis was so serious, it’s very difficult. Very, very hard. He said: Do not lose Chicago. You will lose Chicago, sir.
It is a big city. You will lose Chicago. And then we have this pritzker on television every day. All he does is hit Trump.
