Netflix On Wednesday, announced a new update of its “moments” functionality, allowing viewers to choose a starting point on clips to record and share.
The functionality, which is only available on mobile devices, was deployed for the first time last year, so that viewers record scenes they love and share them.
The new update coincides with the release of the second part of season 2 of the popular “Wednesday” show.
The new Netflix update on “Moments” functionality seeks to capitalize on viral moments in programs such as “Wednesday”. The update includes a “clip” option on the screen to adjust the length of a segment. After being cut, the video will record in the “My Netflix” tab of viewers for redesign or sharing.
“In its heart, this functionality is to give members the possibility of celebrating and sharing their favorite stories while organizing an experience that only feels theirs,” said Elmar Nubbemeyer, vice-president of the Netflix member product. “This is only the beginning of a more dynamic Netflix experience with features and conceptions that intentionally feel designed for mobile devices.”
During the first season of the series – a tour of the classic television show “The Addams Family” – a scene from the title of title on Wednesday, Dancing became viral and became one of the most popular moments in the series. “Wednesday” is the most popular Netflix program to date, with more than 252 million views, according to the company’s website.
The first part of the series made its debut in August and has so far raised tens of millions of views.
The new update comes while Netflix reorganizes its brand, with a redesigned home page and a vertical video flow on mobile that looks like Tiktok.
The streaming giant has implemented a variety of strategic movements since its brief period of stagnation in 2022, from updating its functionalities to commercial initiatives such as a more expensive subscription plan and a repression of password sharing.
Netflix no longer publishes the subscription data, but the streamer said that it had more than 300 million paid memberships in January.
