The Republicans tried to finance Planned Parenthood in their tax reductions for the rich and without health care for all the other laws that Trump reported. The GOP believed that they could bypass legal challenges by funding PP only for a year, but the courts intervened and blocked the program.
The last decision was a new order of the Federal Court which replaced the temporary prohibition order, like the AP reported:
The new prescription replaces a previous edict transmitted by the American district judge Indira Talwani to Boston last week. Talwani initially granted a preliminary injunction specifically preventing the government from reducing Medicaid payments to Planned Parenthood members who did not provide abortion care or have not reached a threshold of at least $ 800,000 in Medicaid reimbursements during a given year.
“Patients are likely to undergo harmful consequences on health where care is disrupted or unavailable,” wrote Talwani in his order on Monday. “In particular, the restriction of the capacity of members to provide health services threatens an increase in unwanted pregnancies and complications which result from it due to reduced access to effective contraceptives and an increase in IST not diagnosed and not treated.”
What the Republicans consider to be a great good bill is an anchor around their neck. Since the financing of Planned Parenthood is only entered in the law for a year, there is an increasing possibility that the decision to finance Planned Parenthood never occurs, because the legislation could remain linked to the court for next year.
There are so many what Trump is doing that does not resist legally or politically. It is as if the executive branch had been transformed into a reality TV program which has no serious interest in government with competence, but incompetence was combined with the extreme agenda of right -wing ideologists, which still has the potential to damage millions of Americans.
The best thing that can happen for those who could lose their health care, whether through Medicaid cups or finance Planned Parenthood, is that Trump is unpleasant thanks to the control of Democrats from all or part of the Congress next year.
