Air raid sirens noted in Taipei on Thursday and other cities in the north of Taiwan, one of the annual exercises testing the country’s response to a potential invasion of China.

The police arrested personal vehicles and public buses and led pedestrians in shelters, such as basements and metro stations.

Some stores and restaurants have lowered the shutters and put out the lights, travel to reduce their visibility during a potential night attack.

The exercises also consisted in simulating the distribution of aid in war times and a mass event.

Video: Taiwan has its annual military exercises, aimed at preparing the country for a potential invasion of China.

Earlier this week, the Taiwanese forces organized their greatest military exercises, which included the simulation of an answer to a amphibious invasion of the Penghu Islands.

The troops pulled javelin missiles, machine guns and tank tours on sea targets.

Taiwanese forces have also carried out maritime exercises around the Matsu islands involving speed boats, drones and mortars. Soldiers pulled boats at rubber speed and positions on shore, responding to a “gray zone harassment” of the islands by the Chinese Coast Guard and the fishing ships.

In an exercise early in the morning, Taiwan military police used the Taipei metro system while it simulated the redeployment of troops and supplies.

The Taiwan army also practiced the security and defense of a bridge major in Taipei. This time, they pulled whites.

Taiwanese military officials have said that Han Kuang’s exercises reproduce complete combat conditions, including simulated enemy attacks against communications and command systems and a full -fledged invasion scenario.

Includes agency reports France-Presse and Reuters.
