2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X with carbon package

GM

DETROIT – General Motors Again expands its Corvette range with a new high performance hybrid variant of the American sports car par excellence.

Detroit’s automaker of Detroit revealed Tuesday the “Hypercar” Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X 2026-an inflated version of the Corvette E-Ray Hybrid which was put up for sale in 2023. It has performance outputs similar to the current Corvette ZR1 of the car manufacturer, including a V-8 Twin-Turbo engine, but has an acceleration faster thanks to electrification techniques “.

“This is the most advanced corvette that we have ever produced. The real Hypercar in America has arrived,” said Megan Dalley, Marketing Director of Corvette, during a media event. “We are putting the world in view of the world with this car, showing what the real supercar of Corvette and America is capable.”

A “hypercar” is considered a step above an “supercar”, based on performance aspects of a vehicle such as speed, acceleration and 0-60 MPH. They are both above a traditional “sports car”.

The top speed of the Corvette ZR1X is 233 MPH, with a time from 0 to 60 mph less than two seconds, according to GM. The Twin-Turbo V8 LT7 engine of the vehicle which is shared with the two ZR1 models is evaluated at 1,064 horsepower and 828 pounds of torque, said the company. Adding to the performance of the ZR1X is an electrical axle that makes the vehicle all -wheel drive and gives it an additional power of 186 horsepower and 145 feet of torque, said GM.

“It provides performance, electrification and all -wheel drive to further improve the unthinkable ZR1,” said Josh Holder, chief engineer of Corvette. “He brings learning to ZR1 and radiography, and combines them to create an incredible driving experience.”

The ZR1X brings the Corvette range to five different models – which has made it the widest since the vehicle was introduced in 1953. It is one of the car manufacturer’s plans for a very profitable “Corvette family” which goes from the “sports car of all employees” Corvette Stingray, which begins around $ 70,000, to the ZR1 which can exceed $ 200,000.

“Corvette is a very profitable vehicle for the company, and we continue to be the ultimate in performance,” said Dalley.

GM previously said that a completely electric corvette would arrive, but it is not clear if the status of these plans has changed in the middle of the slower adoption of electric vehicles. A Corvette SUV has also been being studied for several years.

GM said that Corvette ZR1X prices will be announced closer to when the vehicle arrives at dealerships later this year.

It will be available in a convertible or cut. The coupé includes a rear division window in homage to the famous Corvette of 1963.

All corvettes are produced in a GM assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
