The actions of major vaccine manufacturers abandoned Monday after a key manager of American health resigned to protest against health and social services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on vaccination.

The departure of Peter Marks, the best vaccine regulator of the Food and Drug Administration, has feared new fears as to whether the Trump administration quickly approves and promoted critical plans. In his position, Marks supervised the introduction of COVVI-19 vaccines and rules for the use of emerging treatments such as cellular and genic therapies.

Actions of Modern And Novavax Both closed more than 8% on Monday. In the meantime, the SPDR S&P BIOTECH ETF Slipped almost 4%.

Some Wall Street analysts have said that Marks’ departure could undermine the FDA’s mission to ensure that safe and effective treatments are reaching patients in the United States who could exert even more pressure on a biotechnological sector in difficulty.

“By taking a step back, we consider this departure as a significant negative for the biopharmacy and biotechnological sectors, because the independence of the FDA rooted in a solid scientific rigor is essential for their effective functioning,” analysts of the BMO capital markets on Monday in a note.

Friday, in his resignation letter obtained by CNBC, Marks criticized the “disinformation and lies” of Kennedy on immunization. He said that an increasing epidemic of measles that had started in Texas came following “undermining confidence in well -established vaccines”.

“As you know, I was ready to work to respond to the concerns of the secretary concerning the security and transparency of vaccines by hearing the public and implementing a variety of public meetings and public commitments with the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine,” wrote Marks. “However, it has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the secretary, but he rather wants a subordinate confirmation of his disinformation and his lies.”

The Ministry of Health and Social Services did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

Kennedy, a prominent vaccination skeptic, has already taken measures which, according to public health experts, could dissuade routine immunizations in the United States, he has minimized the importance of measles, mumps and rubella vaccines and promoted unproven treatments to counter the epidemic of measles. The centers for Disease Control and Prevention also implement a study on long -demystified links between vaccines and autism, led by a researcher with history of disinformation on fire.

Leerink Partners analysts wrote in a note on Monday that the effect of Marks’ resignation on biotechnological and pharmaceutical actions will partly depend on who will replace him at the FDA and if the republicans at the White House and in Congress are starting to lose patience with his approach. Other analysts have also stressed that Marks is only a manager of the agency and noted that the new FDA commissioner, Marty Makary, has proven support for proven treatments.

“Although many believe that the resignation of brands is a very bad omen for the health care industry and innovation as a whole, it can be a little premature to throw too much shadow on the shade of the pharmacy and biotechnology,” wrote Jared Holz.
