Donald Trump is increasing his threats against Iran because he is losing the war he started.
Trump’s latest idea is that the United States should commit war crimes to force Iran to capitulate.

The president published on his social network:
The United States of America is in serious talks with A NEW, MORE REASONABLE REGIME to end our military operations in Iran. Great progress has been made, but if for some reason a deal is not reached soon, which is likely to be the case, and if the Strait of Hormuz is not immediately “open for business”, we will conclude our pleasant “stay” in Iran by blowing up and completely wiping out all their power plants, oil wells and Kharg Island (and maybe all the desalination plants!), which we have deliberately not yet “touched”. This will be in retaliation for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran massacred and killed during the former regime’s 47-year “reign of terror.”
What Trump is suggesting is a war crime.
The destruction of infrastructure necessary for the survival of a civilian population constitutes a violation of international law and a war crime.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked by Garrett Haake about Trump’s potential war crimes:
The president released this morning, you know, his threat to leave Iran. He said we could blow up and completely wipe out all their power generation projects, their oil wells, Har Island and perhaps all their desalination plans under international laws. Such strikes on civilian infrastructure are generally prohibited.
Why is the president threatening the US military with what could constitute a war crime? And how do you reconcile that with the administration repeatedly saying that the United States does not target civilians?
Leavitt’s response showed that the entire Trump administration is willing to commit war crimes.
