Donald Trump embarrassed himself and the country when he recently called for a dignified transfer for soldiers who lost their lives in the Iran war. wearing a baseball cap.
Trump later used this dignified transfer in a fundraising email.
The pain families are already feeling from the loss of their loved ones must be compounded by the president treating their time of mourning as an opportunity for promotion.
THE P.A. reported Trump’s casual attitude toward Americans dying in his war, in the first war-worthy transfer to Iran:
“This is the bad part of war,” he later told reporters. When then asked if he was worried about having to make multiple trips to the base for additional dignified transfers as the war continued, he replied, “I’m sure. I hate doing it, but it’s part of war, isn’t it?”
Trump hates it, but he doesn’t hate it enough to end it a war of choice that risks killing more Americans.
This dignified transfer on Wednesday will concern six American soldiers who lost their lives in a plane crash over western Iraq. The troops were taking part in the war in Iran.
It appears the families who participated in Wednesday’s dignified transfer didn’t want their moment of trauma and heartbreak to turn into a publicity stunt.
