The mainstream media headlined that Trump had reached a deal to reduce the cost of weight-loss drugs, but left out a few very important points. Medication would still cost $149/month. The $149 price tag only covers the lowest dose form of the pill. If you want to use an injectable, it will still be expensive. Suppose a person needs a higher dose, so be it. It will cost more.
The Trump plan relies on the fact that the American people will have an extra $149 per month to spend on weight-loss drugs, which can be taken in pill form and will need the lowest dose.
That’s a lot of fine print. Most importantly, the agreement involves only two manufacturers and is completely voluntary.
Thursday’s announcement on weight loss drugs provided insight into Trump’s mentality that health care should not be a right and that the quality of care a person receives should be based on the amount of money they have.
In other words, Donald Trump wants to return America to the broken health care system before Obamacare.
The idea Trump floated on Saturday would be downright deadly for the American people.
