“ Never my intention to shed light ” kirk murder

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Returned to the air with an emotional monologue Tuesday evening, about a week after the suspension of the late evening show Disney ABC Broadcast Network.

The program was initially drawn “indefinitely” following the comments of the Kimmel host during a show monologue who criticized the members of the Maga Movement of President Donald Trump for their reaction to the murder of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

“I never intended to shed light on the murder of a young man,” said Kimmel on Tuesday, warming up. “I don’t think there is something funny about it.”

Kimmel continued: “Neither my intention to blame a specific group for the actions of what was obviously a deeply disturbed individual. It was really the opposite of the point that I was trying to do. But I understand that for some who felt bad or little clear, or perhaps both. And for those who think that I made a finger point, I get the reason.

The premature monologue of the actor marked the first time that he was publicly speaking to the question.

“I am happy to be here tonight,” Kimmel told massive public applause. “It has been overwhelming. I have heard a lot of people in the past six days. I have heard of all the people in the world in the last six days. All the people I have ever met have contacted 10 or 11 times.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live! “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Area every week of week at 11:35 p.m. and offers a diversified range of guests who include celebrities, athletes, musical acts, actors and subjects of human interest, as well as pieces of comedy and a house group.

Earlier Tuesday, Kimmel’s show published a photo on Instagram with legend: “We are back full of love”. Kimmel’s personal account published a photo of the host with the screenwriter and producer Norman Lear, who founded in 1981 People for the American Way, an organization dedicated to the rights of the first amendment.

Kimmel approached the protections of freedom of expression on Tuesday during his remarks.

“This show is not important. What is important is that we live in a country that allows us to have a show like this,” he said. “I had the opportunity to meet and spend time with comedians and country’s hosts in countries like Russia, countries in the Middle East, who told me that they would be thrown in prison to make fun of people in power. … They know how lucky we are here. Our freedom to speak is what they admire the most of this country.”

The members of the public leaving the recording described the monologue as “emotional” and described a warm reception of fans.

“It was just a standing ovation after a standing ovation,” said Fresno, California, who obtained her tickets for weeks ago. “My voice has almost disappeared.”

Political pressure

Disney said in a statement on Monday that he made the decision to suspend the production of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Follow comments that were “poorly invited and therefore insensitive”.

These comments came during Kimmel’s monologue last Monday, in reference to Tyler Robinson, who is accused of shooting Kirk fatally on September 10. Kimmel said that “Gang Maga” desperately tried everything they can to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them and do everything they could to score political points. “”

“Between the tips of the fingers, there was mourning. Friday, the White House piloted the flags at half of the staff, which was criticized, but at a human level, you can see how the president takes care of,” he continued, by dipping a Trump clip on the lawn of the White House in which the president will fold a question on Kirk but quickly tracks to talk about construction.

Kimmel’s suspension came in the midst of the declarations of the president of the Federal Communications Commission Brendan Carr who suggested that ABC and his affiliate stations could risk losing dissemination licenses on comments.

The owners of local stations Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair both declared that they would preempt the return of the program on Tuesday, which means that many markets across the country were unable to look at the program through local channels. Together, the two companies have around 70 ABC affiliation stations.

“We are still on the air in most of the country, except ironically from Washington, DC, where we were pre -empted,” said Kimmel after a commercial break. “After almost 23 years in difficulty, we are suddenly not disseminated in 20% of the country, which is not a situation that we savor.”

Kimmel was then joined by video by the famous actor Robert de Niro, who represented an aggressive chair of the FCC.

Kimmel, ABC and Disney are Trump’s latest objectives and the failure of his administration of media companies, which intensified during his second mandate marked by high -level defamation proceedings, the financing of public broadcasters and the regulatory interference of the FCC.

Trump posted on his social platform Truth late Tuesday against Kimmel Tuesday and saying that his administration “would test ABC on this subject”.

“Let’s see how we do it,” said Trump. “The last time I pursued them, they gave me $ 16 million. It seems even more lucrative.”

In December, ABC agreed to pay $ 16 million – $ 15 million at the Trump presidential library and $ 1 million in legal fees – to settle a defamation trial brought by Trump alleged that the anchor George Stephanopoulos made an inaccurate statement on the branch that the president -president of the time had been civilly responsible for rape of the writer E. Jean Carroll. Trump had been tried responsible for the sexual assault and defamation of Carroll. Trump denies Carroll’s claims that he attacked it.

Kimmel joined his audience on Tuesday to continue to denounce attacks on journalists by the Trump administration.

“It is so important to have a free press, and it’s crazy that we pay no more attention,” he said.

Before Tuesday’s show, demonstrators and supporters appeared before the El Capitan Entertainment Center in Hollywood.

“He should be underway for another full week if not a full month to think about what he said:” Perry Caravello, a youtuber who protested Kimmel’s return, told CNBC outside the studio on Tuesday before recording.

Meanwhile, Gregg Donovan, who put on a black top hat and a red blazer, transported a welcoming Kimmel laminated panel.

“It’s America,” he said. “I don’t think freedom of expression will never be really threatened.”

Kimmel’s show is filmed at the El Capitan Entertainment Center on Hollywood Boulevard, opposite the emblematic Chinese TCL theater.
