The look of the old store is back.
Barrel announced on Tuesday that he suspended all the renovations of the restaurant, the last chapter of the controversy on his brand change that reached the oval office.
The restaurant chain first sparked a storm of fire when it announced its new logo at the end of August, which eliminated its character “Uncle Herschel” and got rid of the words “Old Country Store” for a more elegant look. This change was widespread on the backlash on social networks, including President Donald Trump, who posted on Truth Social that it was “a mistake”.
In addition to the return of the logo, the company also planned to update the appearance of its restaurants. The chain said that it has tested its more modern layout in only four locations out of 660, but that customer comments prompted it to stop the process completely.
“We have clearly heard that the modern renovation design does not reflect what you like at Cracker Barrel,” the company said in a press release. “The vintage Americana that you love will always be there – the rocking chairs on the porch, our chimneys and our ankle games, unique treasures in our gift shop and our antiques drawn directly from our warehouse in Lebanon, Tennessee.”
Cracker Barrel is one of several companies that have recently been faced with customers for reforms ranging from name changes to the logo overhangs.
A week after unveiling his new logo, Cracker Barrel announced that he was returning to the old version, sending his shares more than 8% in one day.
The trademark of the brand of the restaurant chain goes to its “strategic transformation plan” unveiled in 2024, which included “the evolution of the store and customer experience”. At the time, Cracker Barrel said that he would reshape 25 to 30 stores during the year 2025.
“Of course, we will continue to invest in our restaurants to make sure they are in good condition and meet your expectations,” Cracker Barrel said in his Tuesday press release.
