All the hysterical gloom and the destiny surrounding the coverage of the Democratic Party after Trump won the 2024 elections focused on the way the Democrats were “disconnected” with the American people and how the country had “far right”.
The democratic and media elites have paniced in its own right and said that the party was in crisis and had to change all its messages because it no longer connected with the voters.
It turns out that none of this was true.
According to the new data of Gallup:
In the second quarter of 2025, an average of 46% of American adults identified themselves as Democrats or declared that they are independents who lean towards the Democratic Party, while 43% identified themselves as Republicans or said that they are leaning Republican.
This three -point percentage democratic advantage compared to equality between the two parties in the first quarter of 2025, after a republican advance of four points in the fourth quarter of 2024. So far, the Republican Party had led or equal in most quarters since 2023.
…
The net increase in the three points of democratic affiliation between the fourth quarter of 2024 and the T2 2025, from 43% to 46%, is entirely due to more Americans affirming that they are independents who lean towards the Democratic Party (up four points), and not because more are identified as democrats (below one point).
Meanwhile, the drop in the four points of the Republicans during the same period is due to equal reductions in two points in the percentages of people identifying and leaning on republican.
So what’s going on here?
