In the week following the murderous sudden flood which killed hundreds in Texas, the conference was from Jeffrey Epstein, responsibility for the government’s response, And General Chaos surrounding Trump.

The only thing that has not been discussed is climate change, but Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has redirected the conversation to a crisis that Trump tries to bury.

Senator Sanders said in a press release:

In the midst of everything that is happening, it is easy to ignore the extraordinary planetary crisis that we face by climate change. But we just can’t afford to do so.

The last 10 years have been the hottest 10 years ever recorded. 2024 was the warm year in recorded history. January 2025 was the hottest January never recorded. Western Europe has just had its warmest recorded June ever. The recent heat wave in the United States has placed nearly 190 million Americans under thermal opinions and broke heat records in more than 280 locations. Over the past 60 years, the frequency of heat waves in the United States has tripled. According to a new study by the University of Yale, 64% of Americans think that global warming affects the weather in the United States and that almost half say they have personally experienced its effects.

From May 2024 to May 2025, 4 billion people – half of the world’s population – experienced at least an additional month of extreme heat due to climate change. Climate change exacerbated Hurricane Helene last fall in the American South-East, the floods in Texas last week and Vermont and Brazil last summer, recent forest fires in Canada and Los Angeles, and health waves in the United States, Europe, India and Pakistan.

And what is President Trump’s response? He has just dismissed the last employees of the remaining State Department who work on climate change, which is undoubtedly one of the greatest threats to our national security.

Donald Trump puts the planet and future generations in danger for the short -term profits of his executive friends of fossil fuels.

Trump gives the fossil fuels industry exactly what they wanted when they wrote all these campaign checks as a republican candidate in the summer of 2024. Progress of clean energy that was made under Biden was erased by Trump and the republican majority of Congress.

It is not only a political change, but it is also, as Senator Sanders pointed out, an endangerment of the planet.

Trump rejects climate change as a hoax, but the bad political decisions that Trump makes about energy policy harms the American people for decades. Trump also increases energy bills for the American people by contracting the energy market and giving less choice.

Bernie Sanders was in the 80s, but he was fighting for the future of the planet.

The crisis is getting worse, even if Trump tries to bring people to ignore it.
