JetBlue Airways The CEO, Joanna Geraghty, told staff that the carrier implements a multitude of new cost reductions, because the sweetener that is softer than expected makes exploitation of profitability threshold this “unlikely” year.

“We hope that demand and reservations will bounce back, but even a recovery will not fully compensate for the ground that we have lost this year and our return to profitability will take more time than we hoped.

JetBlue did not immediately comment.

American carriers have announced their intention to reduce the capacity, especially in the second half of the half, because domestic travel reservations are lower than expected this year and that the prices have dropped. The plane ticket in May fell 7.3% compared to last year, according to the inflation report of the US Labor Department. JetBlue and other airlines have drawn their 2025 financial forecasts, citing the economic uncertainty which, according to managers, made the forecast of demand difficult.

JetBlue looked for means of increasing income and reducing costs after federal judges blocked its planned Budget Carrier Spirline Airlines budget last year and its northeast American alliance with American airlines In 2023. The airline published an annual profit in 2019 for the last time.

JetBlue will cut off the outstanding flights and cut non -profitable routes. He will also interrupt the renovation plans for four of his former Airbus A320 aircraft with new interiors and to park them, while the six aircraft planned for renovation are still on the right track for next year, Geraghty wrote.

The carrier also assesses his job plans and could combine certain leadership roles and brake travel expenses, according to the memo.

Last month, JetBlue announced a new partnership with United Airlines This will allow customers to book flights on the other airline and win and use frequent travelers.

Geraghty, who took the reins of JetBlue in February of last year, told staff that if the carrier assesses his job plans, he will continue to cause new front line employees and to fill other positions, including a new director for the United Partnership, “given its importance to our company”.

Why airlines invest millions in larger and more chic seats

JetBlue has invested massively in high -end class seats in order to condemn travelers ready to make follies during their trips. The service note said that she was still planning to equip some of her planes with a first national class and build airport fairs.

“These are the constituent elements of a stronger jetblue, and they remain in motion,” said Geraghty.
