The results of the death of the Magnitule 7.7 Magnitula earthquake reached 2,056 people, the country’s military junta announced on Monday, while rescuers were looking for raw victims trapped under collapsed buildings.
The junta, who took control of the country during a coup in 2021, said on state television that 170 people were still missing and that 3,900 people had been injured. The government of national shadow unity, made up of former civilian leaders, has given a higher assessment of 2,418.
Near the epicenter of the Friday Quake, in Mandalay, the second largest city in the country, a 75-year-old grandmother and her two small teenagers were removed alive under their partially collapsed building with 11 floors, told Radio Free Asia.
While standing in darkness, girls, 16 and 13 years old, used their mobile phones to report their location under the condominium of Sky Villa. On Sunday, they were happily found with their families.
The United Nations Office in Myanmar, on the other hand, published a statement on Monday requiring unhindered access to the earthquakes to provide humanitarian aid.
Myanmar, which was mired in a four -year civil war after the soldiers overthrew the government democratically elected during the coup, is poorly equipped to respond to the disaster.

Even before this earthquake, nearly 20 million people needed humanitarian assistance, said Marcoluigi Corsi, the acting humanitarian and humanitarian coordinator in a press release.
“This last tragedy aggravates an already disastrous crisis and risks further eroding the resilience of communities already beaten by conflicts, travel and past disasters,” said Corsi.
The United Nations agencies and humanitarian partners allocated US $ 15 million to support the response and deploy emergency medical teams, refuge and food aid.
“We have a significant presence in Mandalay and the surrounding area, and we are doing our best to reach people in need despite serious logistical challenges,” said Corsi.
The UN said that many survivors suffered from “fractures, open wounds and crushing syndrome – all conditions that have a high risk of infection”.
In a daily humanitarian update, the UN told a tragedy in a private nursery school which was in session during the earthquake in the Mandalay region. The class building collapsed, leading to the death of 50 children and two teachers.
In response to the earthquake, Russia, China, Belarus, India, Thailand, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Malaysia have provided help. The United States, Australia, the United Kingdom and Bangladesh have sent financial assistance and rescue supplies.
The earthquake was centered near Mandalay in the middle of the country and caused serious destruction in Sagaing, Magway, Bago, Naycyidaw, Shan State and Eastern Taungoo.
The junta declared a period of national mourning of seven days until April 6 to remember those who lost their lives in the earthquake.
Thai efforts continue
The replicas were still felt in the Burmese cities of Mandalay and Naycyidaw as well as the Thai capital of Bangkok – 1,000 kilometers from the epicenter – although no additional damage was reported.

In Bangkok, multinational rescuers, including American Indo-Pacific command, used K-9 dogs and electronic sensors to detect the signs of life in the rubble of a 30-storey building.
According to the rescue center on the site of the audit office of the collapsed state near Chatuchak park, at 8 a.m. on Monday, 76 people remained missing, 11 were confirmed dead with nine injured. The body of a woman was out of the rubble in the middle of the afternoon, bringing the number of deaths to 12.
Research continued beyond the 72-hour conventional window to find survivors, said the governor of Bangkok, Chadchart Sittipunt, saying that signs of life had been detected on Monday morning.
The Ministry of Labor in Thailand said that it would give 1.73 million baht (US $ 51,000) to families for each of the construction workers – many foreign nationals – who died in the collapse.
