At some point the whole thing becomes a distorted parody.

If the White House had been smart or had any sense of political self-preservation, it would have considered Trump’s message about Rob Reiner and canceled all of the president’s public events for the day.

Under no circumstances should the White House have allowed Trump to answer reporters’ questions, because they needed to know what was going to happen.

Reporters were going to ask questions about Trump’s social media post, and Trump was going to double down by saying something crazy to justify it.

Trump’s attack on Rob Reiner was based on Reiner’s criticism of the president. There is no other reason for this.

Reiner wasn’t MAGA, so the president is going to smear him and his memory.

The way Trump chose to defame Reiner was so unhinged and out of touch with reality that it should raise red flags and ring alarm bells with the American people.

Donald Trump was asked: “A number of Republicans denounced your statement on true social following the murder of Rob Reiner. Do you stand by that message?”

What followed was a deranged meltdown, even by Donald Trump standards.
