Frustrated supporters often ask why Democrats do not do more to fight against Trump and fight for democracy.
An event on Tuesday has shown what Democrats are doing and why so many people do not know.
Democrats held a press conference to announce the reintroduction of the John Lewis voting rights.
Senator Raphael Warnock was one of the senators who spoke during the event, and he said:
Here is the thing, the voting rights are conservative of all other rights. That’s right. Democracy is the even house in which we live it. This is the framework in which we can fight.

For the things that are important to us. There are so many places all over the world where you cannot fight, you cannot use your voice as we have taken it for granted. And these last seven months have reminded us that we should not take it for granted. We are literally in a fight for the life of the Republic.
We are fighting to make sure that everyone has a voice and that we do not give in to the authoritarian movement which is underway at the moment in our country. So much at stake, and at the moment, even if we are planning here by pushing this law on voting rights of John Lewis, the legislators of Texas are recalled in a special session.
Think about it. In Texas, in mid-July, they return to session in order to redraw the cards in the middle of the decade. Not only do they say the calm part aloud, but they act on it with revenge in real time. And then think about it. The very people who have just withdrawn health care of 16 million Americans.
The very people who have just adopted legislation that will roughly cause everyone’s health premiums to rise are now busy trying to ensure that these Americans do not have the capacity to dismiss them. They have deprived the people of a doctor and now they are trying to do the polling cards.
This is why we must adopt the law on voting rights, and we must do it now. And so instead of representing the needs of the people, they spend the following and a half the following year trying to redraw the lines, taking out people from their democratic system so that they no longer have votes and voices.
This is what you call democracy upside down. Thus, rather than the people who choose their representatives, politicians can choose their own people.
The law on the progress of John Lewis’s voting rights restores the federal pre-elimination of changes in voting rights in the states that have suffered violations in the past. The legislation also expands the ability of the courts to protect the voting rights, and it is still important a federal pre-authorization in states which have violations of voting rights before a state can modify its laws on the identity of voters or rediscover.
The introduction of this legislation is an important development, but it has not received any coverage in the consumer media.
This is not going to pass this year, but with the Democrats thinking that they are in good chance of resuming the room and the Senate next year, they align support and demonstrate their priorities for the future when they control the congress and the White House again.
The rewritten voting rights law has followed Shelby’s decision directives of the Supreme Court, it therefore begins in the premise that it will survive a legal dispute.
Democrats send the message that they have the tools to strengthen democracy. They only need voters to give them the power to act.
