DETROIT – The range of Electrics expanding Cadillac attracts a significant number of new buyers to the American luxury brand, including an increase in this year Tesla The owners exchange in their electric vehicles.
THE General Motors Brand reports that nearly 8 out of 10 customers buying a Cadillac EV are new for Cadillac, with around 10% of these customers merchanting one Tesla. This includes around 25% of customers who exchange one Tesla this year for a Cadillac Lyriq SUV, against previous levels of around 10% to 15%.
“We see the opportunity to increase the rate of conquest for Tesla, absolutely,” said Brad Franz, Director of World Marketing of Cadillac, in CNBC during an event for the Vistiq with three rows of Vistiq – the last EV of the brand to strike the American exhibition halls.
This increase in the conquest of customers, as the industry refers, arises because Cadillac offers a relatively complete range of EV and as Tesla faces the decline in sales and boycotts this year in the support of the CEO Elon Musk to President Donald Trump and his actions as part of the so-called Ministry of Government Effectiveness, or DOGE.
Cadillac refused to speculate on if Musk's policy has played in the thoughts of Tesla owners, claiming that the automaker “built large Cadillacs who conquered customers of other brands on the bottom of the products”.
The Cadillac's current EV range includes an entry -level crossing called Optiq, the medium -sized Lyriq SUV, the Vistiq, the full -size IQ Escalade SUV and soon a tailor -made Celestiq car of $ 300,000. It also offers a Lyriq performance variant and a larger version of IQ climbing.

“The portfolio is the key,” said Franz. “We have always had a good interaction with Tesla customers, but in the past, it was in this range of 10% to 15% [for Lyriq]. So, certainly, we see a good leap in the rate of conquest. “”
Although Cadillac was lucky by attracting Tesla owners, there is still room for improvement.
No Tesla vehicle is in the top 10 of any Cadillac EV crossed in the last six months, according to Edmunds.com, which means that the majority of these customers do not look for Teslas against a Cadillac. The Consumer Vehicle Research and Data Firm reports that the best cross -checking vehicles on its website for Cadillac are largely other Cadillac electric vehicles, as well as other national signage plates.
A potential reason could be that Tesla owners do not really reduce themselves against their vehicle, simply trying to find a new one, according to Joseph Yoon, analyst of the EDMUN Consumer Insights.
“People are leaving Tesla cars now, in my opinion they make a very deliberate choice to get out of this car,” he said. “If your priority is to get out of the Tesla as soon as possible, then they are not, technically, Tesla cross for their next car.”
Yoon said it is common for vehicles to the same brands to be very transverse, adding that data come from its website and not representative of dealers' exchanges.
Edmunds reports the best vehicles to cross bops for Cadillac Lyriq – the brand's sales leader of the brand – are the Cadillac Optiq, Acura ZDX, Ford Mustang Mach-E and BMW 1x. They are followed by the Kia EV9 and the Chevrolet Blazer and Equinox EV.
For Tesla models, Edmunds reports other Tesla models, consumer's best cross research, as well as many Honda, Hyundai and Kia vehicles. The Chevrolet Equinox EV, GMC Hummer EV and Ford Mustang Mach-E are also in the mixture, depending on the model.
Yoon also noted that although Tesla and Cadillac can offer vehicles at similar prices, the best -selling models of Tesla – the model 3 and the Y model – are more traditional cars than luxury.
Cadillac's objective this year is to be the best -selling EV brand, which does not include Tesla, although there is a valid argument according to which the most expensive S models are luxury vehicles.
“Cadillac opens the way with our EV range,” said Franz at the Vistiq event. “We are really ready for success. We are going to take this portfolio, now that Vistiq Complete the SUV portfolio, and becomes the luxury brand EV n ° 1.”
