ESPN's new streaming application, featuring the whole arm of the sports media Disney should offer, will cost $ 29.99 per month.
The service, which will take the ESPN name, as CNBC reported it last week, will be strongly updated when it is grouped with other Disney, Disney + and Hulu streaming services. The three services, with ads, will cost $ 35.99 per month when purchased together.
For users who are part of the ESPN launch this fall, the price of this bundle will fall to $ 29.99 per month for the first 12 months. In other words, ESPN customers will effectively get Disney + and Hulu for the first year.
An annual subscription to the ESPN streaming service will cost $ 299.99.
“Our priority is to look at the 60 million households on the sidelines,” said ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro on Monday during a media event.
The ESPN application will include all the live games of the network; Programming on other ESPN cable networks such as ESPN2 and the dry network; ESPN on ABC; Fantastic products; New Tie-Instes de Paris; Studio programming; documentaries; And more.
The new service differs from the current ESPN +ESPN +streaming product, which does not include some of the most watched live games (such as the full list of “Monday Night Football”) which are currently broadcast on traditional paid television.
ESPN + will remain a less expensive offer for consumers, operating as the entry level for ESPN customers who do not want the whole service. However, Pitaro added that the company will favor the upgrade of current ESPN + subscribers to the service.
ESPN + costs $ 11.99 per month and can be grouped with Disney + and Hulu for $ 16.99 per month with advertisements.
As CNBC reported it last week, Pitaro decided to name the “ESPN” application to simplify what has become a crowded streaming world, filled with different media products that can be grouped with other services at different prices.
Later this year, the ESPN mobile application will be redesigned and will act as the gateway to the service for all access to televisions and smart devices. The reworked application, which will include new features such as personalized “sportscenter”, will be available for all users – and not only those who buy a product directly from the ESPN consumer of $ 29.99.
Paid television subscribers who already get ESPN will automatically be authenticated in the new application to obtain digital bells and whistles that are not available via cable television.
Customers who buy ESPN outside the cable pack will also receive ESPN +.
