London – Hong Kong rights groups, Tibetans, Uighurs and local residents gathered on Saturday at the former Royal Mint Court to come together against China’s “Mega -Embassy”, expressing the fears that Beijing uses the building to harass and monitor dissidents living abroad.

This is the second mass event in five weeks on the site near the Tower of London. The organizers estimated that 6,000 people participated.

The demonstrators scattered peacefully after the rally and no one was arrested.

The Chinese government bought the historic building in 2018 with plans to build what would become the largest diplomatic establishment in Beijing in the world.

An architect working on the project revealed some of the details of the project, including a tunnel connecting two of the former Royal Mint buildings, basement rooms and accommodation for hundreds of staff members.
