There are two things you need to know about Donald Trump’s support of Ken Paxton in the Texas Senate Republican primary runoff before we talk about how the move helps Democrats.
Senate Republicans didn’t want Trump to support Paxton because they think the Texas attorney general would put the seat in danger. Senate Republicans have been pressuring Trump for months to support incumbent Sen. John Cornyn, who is doing much better with Texas moderate voters and would have been a tough match for Democratic candidate James Talarico.
Trump has likely thrown his support in now, as internal polling shows Paxton winning the runoff. If Paxton were to lose, Trump would not approach him and offer support. Trump loves to support candidates who already seem poised to win, then brag about his support record. The president does it again in Texas.
Trump’s support for Paxton is very long, so we will only look at part of it:

Maybe Ken can help move these important parts of government forward because with the filibuster, as an example, the Democrats will end it on their first day in office, giving us two additional states, DC and Puerto Rico, and a vastly expanded United States Supreme Court, probably going with their dream number of 21 justices from the 9 we currently have – and these new justices will be radical left-wing nutjobs! Two years ago our country was DEAD – we now have the “HOTTEST” country in the world – and I want to keep it that way. Ken Paxton will help me do it, MAKING AMERICA BIGGER, BETTER AND STRONGER THAN EVER!
That Trump endorsement was crazy. Trump appears to be campaigning for the Texas Senate seat.
The president also delivered a dose of nonsense by trying to scare Texans into voting for Paxton over Talarico in November.
