The SF atmosphere is frenetic over the huge gap between results and career uncertainty for software engineers; over 5 years, around 10,000 people working in AI have achieved retirement wealth— The vibes in SF are pretty frenetic right now. The gap between results is the worst I have ever seen. Over the last 5 years, a group of around 10,000 people – employees of Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Nvidia, Meta TBD, founders – have achieved retirement wealth well over $20 million (back of the envelope).
