Trump arrested for lying about Iran war negotiations

Donald Trump is stuck in a quagmire of a war in Iranand his usual trick of inventing his own reality and trying to sell it to those around him doesn’t work.

Trump has created an economic crisis on top of an international crisis, on top of a country on the brink of collapse.

In an apparent effort to calm the stock market, Trump claims almost daily that the war he started with Iran has been won or will soon be won.

When financial markets plunged, Trump claimed that peace negotiations were underway with Iran, but at the time there was no evidence that negotiations with the ruling Iranians were underway.

On Sunday, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Jim Himes, said there were no negotiations.

Himes added his response on defunding ICE on CBS’s Face The Nation:

This is not ideological purity. It’s fundamental respect for the law – yeah, well, okay, so that’s agreed upon, let’s pass the law that codifies it.

Because you know what, we don’t trust the president when he says, “Okay, no masks,” any more than we trust him when he says, “oh, well, now I’m negotiating with the Iranians when that’s not the case, right?”

So if it’s that simple, fine, let’s codify it into law. But they’re not, you know, they’re not willing to do that. Now, where Maria is right, and this is important, we are too accustomed to using shutdowns as a mechanism to get what we want legislatively. And what that implies is that people like TSA agents or people who work in the federal government for the Department of Agriculture don’t get paid when one party throws a tantrum, right?

Now, in this case, I believe that the American people – you know, are on the side of the Democratic Party and saying that they can’t act like ICE acted in Minneapolis, but we have to stop legislating the shutdown that is not in keeping with the great country that we are.

Himes just casually implied that Trump was lying about negotiations with Iran, but he went into more detail and explained why Trump is lying later in the interview.
