The White House keeps trying to send Donald Trump to give speeches about the economy, but with Trump’s mind unable to focus and form coherent thoughts, combined with the fact that he has no interest in politics and no policies to tout to voters, it all adds up to disaster when Trump comes to town and is placed in front of a live microphone.

That was the scale of Trump’s plan to solve the affordability crisis. Trump called affordability fake and claimed he “won” affordability.
Trump said: “Then I have to listen to the fake news. I’m talking about affordability. Affordability. Have you noticed, what word haven’t you heard in the last two weeks? Affordability, because I won. I won affordability. I had to come out and talk about it, but we inherited a mess. We inherited the worst inflation in history.”

The data shows that Trump is lying. On the key issue of food prices, CNBC recently reported: “The average price of eggs – a frequent proxy for inflation during the campaign – has declined from its peak in spring 2025 and is now down 30% since Trump took office last year. Average prices of orange juice are up 28% and prices of ground beef are up 15% compared to January 2025. Prices of pork bacon and chicken are also up.”
Electricity prices jumped 6.9% in the first year of Trump’s second term, so if that helps with affordability, I’d hate to see what a loss would look like.
The event grew worse the more Trump spoke.
